Hi! I've been lurking since April and am excited about participating on the forum!

My answers to the some of the qs in the questionnaire:

What brings you to SD? I'm a Traditional Catholic who loves to think about and discuss Catholicism, culture, philosophy, history, and more. Unfortunately there aren't many in my life right now who share the same passions + perspective (working on this) so I've been getting my fix by reading blogs, lurking on forums, and listening to podcasts. I've enjoyed reading through the archives of this forum and can't wait to join the conversation!

Are you a member of other Internet fora?  If so, care to mention which one(s)? I lurk Cathinfo and a few Catholic subreddits from time to time. But r/Catholicism is too liberal (for me personally) and the traditional Catholic sub doesn't have enough activity unfortunately.

What is your state of life - single, married, religious, or still discerning? Married!

Whereabouts do you live "in real life"? (be as specific or as general as you wish!)

Texas!

Personality type? ENFP, sanguine/phlegmatic :)

Favorite TV shows? Arrested Development, The Office, Community, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Veep, Archer, Bosch, Longmire (not very Catholic I know...I'm working on that haha just wanted to give a sense of my tastes)

I have too many fav books and films to list, and don't follow any sports.

Have any hobbies? Painting, singing, dance, reading, writing poetry, cooking, hosting/entertaining. All things feminine, artistic, and/or domestic really.

Fun random fact about yourself: I'm related to John Adams!

Thanks for reading and can't wait to get to know everyone :)

In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"

Michael Wilson

Welcome to the forum! I hope you like it here and I look forward to reading your contributions.
"The World Must Conform to Our Lord and not He to it." Rev. Dennis Fahey CSSP

"My brothers, all of you, if you are condemned to see the triumph of evil, never applaud it. Never say to evil: you are good; to decadence: you are progess; to death: you are life. Sanctify yourselves in the times wherein God has placed you; bewail the evils and the disorders which God tolerates; oppose them with the energy of your works and your efforts, your life uncontaminated by error, free from being led astray, in such a way that having lived here below, united with the Spirit of the Lord, you will be admitted to be made but one with Him forever and ever: But he who is joined to the Lord is one in spirit." Cardinal Pie of Potiers

Welcome!

Quote
In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
    Down to a sunless sea.
So twice five miles of fertile ground
With walls and towers were girdled round:
And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills,
Where blossomed many an incense-bearing tree;
And here were forests ancient as the hills,
Enfolding sunny spots of greenery.

But oh! that deep romantic chasm which slanted
Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover!
A savage place! as holy and enchanted
As e'er beneath a waning moon was haunted
By woman wailing for her demon lover!
And from this chasm, with ceaseless turmoil seething,
As if this earth in fast thick pants were breathing,
A mighty fountain momently was forced:
Amid whose swift half-intermitted burst
Huge fragments vaulted like rebounding hail,
Or chaffy grain beneath the thresher's flail:
And 'mid these dancing rocks at once and ever
It flung up momently the sacred river.
Five miles meandering with a mazy motion
Through wood and dale the sacred river ran,
Then reached the caverns measureless to man,
And sank in tumult to a lifeless ocean:
And 'mid this tumult Kubla heard from far
Ancestral voices prophesying war!

The shadow of the dome of pleasure
    Floated midway on the waves;
Where was heard the mingled measure
From the fountain and the caves.
It was a miracle of rare device,
A sunny pleasure-dome with caves of ice!
     A damsel with a dulcimer
    In a vision once I saw;
    It was an Abyssinian maid,
And on her dulcimer she played,
    Singing of Mount Abora.
    Could I revive within me
    Her symphony and song,
To such a deep delight 'twould win me,
That with music loud and long,
I would build that dome in air,
That sunny dome! those caves of ice!
And all who heard should see them there,
And all should cry, Beware! Beware!
His flashing eyes, his floating hair!
Weave a circle round him thrice,
And close your eyes with holy dread,
For he on honey-dew hath fed,
And drunk the milk of Paradise.
-Coleridge
