Mrs. Mith and I have watched the first season, and are waiting for the second to hit netflix instantstream.

I love it.  I don't think Mary Crawley is annoying, she's just a bitch.  I guess I could see how people might find that to be annoying, though.

I'm not going to follow this thread now because I don't want any spoilers.
Ps 135

For he was mindful of us in our affliction: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
And he redeemed us from our enemies: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
Who giveth food to all flesh: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
Give glory to the God of heaven: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
Give glory to the Lord of lords: * for his mercy endureth for ever.

Indeed, please warn for spoilers!

Once I finish up "White Collar," Downton Abbey is next on my list.

Underdog of choice: Tom Branson, the chauffeur. It feels like he browbeat Sibyl into falling in love with him, but he becomes much more likeable in season 3.

I liked him right away, mainly because I still associated him with Agrippa from Rome.

You literally just said "I love it" in reference to Downton Abbey.

On second thought, cuddling up with Downton Abbey in the background doesn't sound all too bad....

Downton Abbey is not gay at all.  In fact, part of the problem of modern culture is the false sense of machismo that we subsitute for manliness.  It's one of the reasons why society is crumbling.  Manliness is an attitude, a set of virtues wrapped in responsbility, calm, etc.  It's not a big truck or wearing boots.

At any rate, I absolutely love Downtown Abbey, though I should say that I'm only through the first season.  I think that, at least so far, the show has a particularly Catholic feel to it.  It's respectable and sometimes downright favorable to aristocracy, something which you will amost never see.  Given the time period, it also stresses modesty and traditional values, again, often portraying these in a positive light.

The writing is also quite good.
IF I speak with the tongues of men, and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

This is good to hear, Louis.

DH and I really liked the first season. We found it on Netflix by accident and didn't even realize it was a phenomenon. We also didn't realize it was only the first installment until about halfway through the final episode. It dawned on us that there was no way they were going to wrap everything up in 30 minutes and we would to wait almost a year.  :'(

We were very excited about Season 2 and watched it streaming on the PBS site. We had very strict rules about how the first person who saw it couldn't spoil it for the second person.

I thought Season 2 lagged a bit in the middle. In fact, I almost stopped watching it after that episode about the long lost cousin. Luckily a friend told me that the next episodes redeemed the series so I saw the rest of the episodes.

Unfortunately by accident, I found out about one of the big things that happens in Season 3 (don't worry I won't divulge it here). I'm a little disappointed that I'm not going into it completely unspoiled.

I hope they'll let Lady Edith find some happiness this season.
