This article seems to indicate that the most common form of childhood leukemia* can be prevented.

*I've decided to spell leukemia with only one a, even at the risk of a visit from the Spelling Police TM.  ;)

Very interesting.  I have read the same thing about allergies, which are becoming more and more common in the developed world, but for the most part are non-existent in the developing world.  The theory basically is that if a child grows up in an ultra-clean environment, and is not exposed to any kind of microbe or germs, their immune system kinds of goes crazy, and creates allergic reactions to otherwise harmless items.

My child had no allergies.   8) (I am a horrible housekeeper)  ::)
In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"
