Here's the simple format I submit to you to be adopted for this group rosary. It is to be made into a sticky thread for the benefit of all wishing to consult the order of the prayers. As Dymphna suggested earlier, the person leading the prayer (
V.) types the
first and
last words of the prayer he's saying, highlighted in maroon, except for the sign of the cross, the naming of the intention, the enunciation of the mystery at the beginning of each decade and the final prayer which will be typed in full. The second person (
R.) will do the same. It is desirable that the person leading
is a male whenever possible. The prayers will be divided in half so it won't be as monotonous for those following it on the screen. For instance, in any given "Hail Mary", it will look like this on the chat log:
QuoteV. Ave. (...) Jesus.
R. Sancta. (...) Amen.
The Group Rosary will take place in the forum chat
every Saturday evening at 8PM and 10PM (Forum Default Time - Eastern Time). Those who voted for the 8PM time slot will gather at that time to pray the Rosary together and those who voted for the 10PM time slot will, naturally, gather at that respective hour. Of course, everyone is free to join at any of those hours, praying both Rosaries if deemed spiritually convenient. The minimum people required for any Group Rosary is
two: one to lead and another one to type the responses. In order to fulfill the minimum required, a toleration of 5 to 10 minutes maximum shall be given so that everyone can join in.
PRAYER FORMAT FOR THE GROUP ROSARY:(https://s7.postimg.org/pto06cgej/Lady_Rosary.jpg)
I've submitted four corrections to our prayer format,
scilicet:
1. Introduction of the traditional and customary blessing on the forehead, lips and breast (
"Per signum Crucis de inimicis nostris libera nos, Deus noster" - By the sign of the cross deliver us from our enemies, O our God.) imediately
before the sign of the cross itself.
2. Stating the intentions
after the initial blessing and
not before. The responder (
R.) will ad "Amen" at the end of the intentions.
3. Adding the missing
Gloria Patri,
O Maria and
Fatima Prayer before the enunciation of the first mystery.
4. Adding the verbal enunciation for the leader (
V.)
"Oremus in honorem castitatis Beatæ Mariæ semper Virginis" before the three final Hail Maries in honour of Our Lady's purity and chastity.
The format is quite simple to follow, step-by-step, so that anyone can pray it and lead the group prayer in the chatroom whenever necessary.

Thanks for making it a sticky thread, Käse.
I'll be in for the GR tomorrow at 8PM.
I should clarify, if I haven't already, that the stated intention for which the Group Rosary is offered to God is the exaltation of holy mother Church, the conversion of sinners and the intentions and sanctification of the members of this forum, as stated in the Latin: "...ad exaltationem sanctæ matris Ecclesiæ, ad conversionem peccatorum et ad intentiones sanctificationemque hujus fori membrorum."
Besides any private intentions one might mentally formulate to God at the time, the intentions of the forum members mentioned at the beginning of the prayer are considered to be first and foremost those expressed in the Prayer Intentions Subforum. Therefore, everytime our Group Rosary is prayed, one is to understand that by "intentiones....fori membrorum" we mean those stated prayer intentions on the subforum in question.
Thus, through this simple weekly devotion, we actively pray for each other and foster a healthy spirit of communion, taking care to leave no-one's pleas ignored.
Thank you all who participated in this evening's GR prayer.

There was a GR at 8PM.
I'm not sure if the one at 10PM was one. It depends on the people who voted for that time slot showing up.
I love this idea, and really appreciate you taking the lead on this, Vetus.
Probably one of the more important things we do here at the forum.

Can you add the corrections I added on reply 5 of this thread to the OP?
Is there going to be a Rosary prayed over chat tonight?
Reminder:
Group Rosary this evening at 8PM and 10PM.
I might not be able to make it this evening, I'm pretty tired. Just follow the prayer format (the second with the corrections). It's easy.
Thank you to Jacob, Aeneas and Red Solo Cup.
The 8PM Group Rosary was done again for a third time in a row. Deo gratias!

I don't know why.
The 10PM time slot was the most voted. We had already 3 GR done in a row at 8PM (Saturday 11th, 18th and 25th). Has there any GR taken place at 10PM?

Yeah, not so popular a time after all. ¯\_(?)_/¯
8PM has done well though. Last night and the week before, we've had at least four folks each time.
8pm is kids bedtime in our house

I didn't try this time. Last week I was there at 10 but there was only 1 other person who only wanted to watch.
It's easy to get discouraged when that happens... I'm glad the 8PM time is working well for others.
I have company this weekend and won't be able to be around for the group rosary at either time.
Reminder:
Group Rosary this evening at 8PM and 10PM. This is our 4th session.
I'll try to be there.

Was able to make the first one today, at 8pm est, just before Mass. [Saturday evening est is Sunday morning for me :)] In chapel, they gave the example of how Poland etc was freed from Communism by the Rosary. They asked us to pray the Rosary at homes on Dec 8th, Feast of the Immaculate Conception (beside a holy hour in chapel between 12 to 1 pm) and took down the names of those who volunteered to do so.
I was thinking, if people find it easier to do so, could we have something similar here? That is, if people can agree to say a Rosary at the time convenient for them, we can plan that accordingly here. This way, if say, 10 people agree, either all 10 can pray at the stipulated time and we can count and keep track here. Or, if it's easier, because some are in different time zones, free at different times etc they can agree to pray at consecutive times. Say, one person can set apart 6-620 pm. Another 620-640 pm. Then 640-700 pm etc. This way we can have something like a continuous Rosary like some monastic communities do. And we can schedule that for the week here. What do you say?
Quote from: Xavier on December 02, 2017, 10:03:11 PM
What do you say?
To be honest, I think it's too ambitious.
It will be hard enough to keep this simple Saturday evening rosary going on. Let's take each step at a time.
Jayne has told me that there has been some difficulty in following the prayer format when I'm not around.
I thought the format was pretty straightforward but, since it isn't as simple as I thought it was, I'm willing to host a webcam chat with some of you who wish to volunteer to lead the rosary prayers (Jacob, Aeneas, etc.), so I can explain the procedure and train, if necessary, a few of you to keep this thing going.
I understand the GR was said last Saturday but that people had to improvise. I hope it won't be necessary in the future. Tell me what you think and how many of you are interested.
I think I know how to do it, although 10 Eastern is my bedtime, so I am almost never there for that one, so I don`t know how useful I could be then.
Agreed. It takes a few times around to get a hold on what's going on.
No training necessary, then?
Quote from: Vetus Ordo on December 06, 2017, 02:03:45 PM
No training necessary, then?
I would like to do some training. Not by the means you suggest though, as I can't hear, so webcam chat isn't workable. What I'd need to do to get the hang of leading is just taking the lead and people allowing me to sort through the guide at my own speed, copy, pasting, making sure I am not losing my place.
I do recommend that anyone who wants to learn this should participate by doing the responses first to know how things work.
How about a crib sheet such as that in reply #5 only in English. I think it could of helped last Fri. night. I've had no experience with group rosaries until SD and am trying to learn it.
Jacob and Red,
If you want to try a "dry rosary" in the chatroom tomorrow or Saturday before the proper time, we can do it. It might be a useful way for you to master the format.

I can do tomorrow evening at 8pm EST.
As it stands right now, I can do 8:00 tonight.
Red and I met and got things worked out for ourselves. Hopefully our little session proved to be useful.
Are people now actually attending a 10PM GR? If not, are there 2 or more (plus myself) who would do it (fairly) regularly if it were available (with at least 1 guy willing to lead)?

A special thanks to Jacob who lead the prayers for the first time with diligence and proficiency.

That's a shame.
Let's see if we can get on track next Saturday.
Is anyone interested in picking this back up?
For myself, I have had something come up and would not be able to make the 8pm time, and I have seen that the 10pm time is the less popular of the two. Would a different time be preferable to trying to resume at Saturday at 8 and 10 (North American Eastern Time)?
I am interested and am pretty flexible about time, although 10 is on the late side for me.
It really needs somebody to shepherd it through its initial stages, doing things such as posting reminders and being there to greet people. Once it becomes well-established with a core group it won't need so much attention, but I think it needs somebody (preferably a man) to get it established.

Yes to this entirely. I'd recommend a team of two or three guys to take this on, so if one is busy randomly, the other two can step up.
Have you guys considered doing a free to call into conference call or something similar?

Jayne, agreed. 8pm would work for me any other day of the week except Saturday as it was and has resumed being the evening I am in contact with my parent in a chatroom for our weekly catch-up.
Sorry.
I've been away for a while. I've been busy with work and family matters.
I hope this initiative doesn't die out.
I will be around tonight, Thursday, at 8PM Eastern Time. Join me if you want.
