CL is Modernist, too. I'm most familiar with CL, and I abhor Giussani's Modernist writings. His most famous book is entitled The Religious Sense (cf. Pascendi §8); he's clearly inline with Modernists Blondel and De Lubac.
Quote from: Prayerful on April 24, 2018, 04:20:45 PMI suspect some of these conservative movements must be deeply comfortable with this Argentine schemer.
Bergoglio is close to CL (as Sire mentions in Dictator Pope: "He [Bergoglio] was close to conservative groups in the Church such as Opus Dei and two Italian movements, Comunione e Liberazione and the Focolari, who were influential in Argentina."). I posted on this in 2014: "Bergoglio's longtime relation w/ the 'ecclesial movement' Communion & Liberation"

Sire is clearly theologically clueless in in saying in Phoenix from the Ashes: "Two other movements, mainly based in Italy, have likewise stood out as opponents of the Modernist trend. One of them, Comunione e Liberazione..." and "Bodies such as Opus Dei and Comunione e Liberazione make a conscientious effort to uphold the traditional orthodoxy of the Church while adhering to the new liturgy." (One cannot adhere to the Novus Ordo without also adhering to its Modernism; Lex orandi, lex credendi....)

Perhaps the dictator Pope will be replaced by a black Pope.  The Pontefract Maximus.   :)

Apparently Pontefract is a town in Yorkshire. Hence the name Pontefract cakes.

Yes, adherence to the Bugnini liturgy and resisting Modernism, cannot be done, although many have tried. The weak new liturgy, and cunningly edited liturgy, place all good efforts on the shoulders of this or that charismatic priest, but as shown with some EWTN stars of the past, it is risky. Obviously a competently offered TLM, even a brief Low Mass, can stand of its own, even if the priest has limited eloquence as a preacher. Moreover, Opus Dei priests might prefer the Mass of Ages in conventual settings, but offering the NOM publicly in nearly all, or all, their parishes, barring special occasions, undercuts most of the good they try to do. Notably, Bergoglio is supremely Peronist, full of leftist assumptions, but will by default deride opponents as leftist, say in the case of those horrified at having Juan Barros Madrid, someone directly implicated in sexual defilement of a youth, as bishop of their diocese of Osorno.

KOM have dismissed historian Henry Sire from the Order.

Sire says that he will contest this dismissal.

I hope Sire is successful in his challenge.
