Pope Francis CALLS Latin Mass Leaders to Rome: FSSP and ICKSP will by loyalty tested

The "Ecclesia Dei" communities or priestly societies attached to the 1962 Latin Mass are being summoned to Rome in September.

This would include the FSSP (Fraternity of St Peter), ICKSP (Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest), and IBP (Institute of the Good Shepherd).

This has traditionalists concerned about what could be next after devastating
Motu Proprio Traditionis Custodes.

Will these societies/institutes be restricted or asked to celebrate a "new Missal", new calendar, or required to concelebrate?

Father John Zuhlsdorf has been warning that something worse was in the works.
And that we should be praying different Novenas for help!

Although all sorts of Jesuitical mental reservations should be cooked up and enthusiastically implemented to protect the Mass- it is in fact worth dying for.

Publicly teaching heresy after being corrected by his bishop and the Vatican would justify Feeney's excommunication.  No need to bring his travel plans into it.

The excommunication, if it was that, was simply for not going to Rome. Feeneyite is largely just a label, used now like Jansenist once was in the years before and after V2. Fr Feeney offended Bobby Kennedy for his speeches on Boston Common, and similar, and Joe got +Richard Cushing to pull strings in Rome. Others, perhaps even arch-ecumenist Cushing were offended at his skill in converting the Boston's gilded youth. Finally, years later, Paul VI or someone in the Curia saw the absurdity and cruelty of the measures against the by then ailing Fr Feeney and asked only he recite a creed of the Church. Fr Feeney chose the Athanasian Creed.

This will be interesting. Perhaps Francis will just want a pledge of loyalty and row back now that everyone from Reinhard Card. Marx to most diocesan US bishops with exist TLMs have ignored him. Perhaps it might be just a kiss and some photos. After all his mission to spread error goes well. TLMs are a microscopic issue. Perhaps he will want him to concelebrate a Novus Ordo like he got the bishop heading the Brazilian Personal Apostolic Administration of Saint John Mary Vianney to do.

Well, I talked to a leader in one of these institutes and this supposed Vatican summoning is exaggerated.

Besides, he asked us to pray for all Traditional Apostolates around the world.

Someone at another forum said this is not true. TM's story is incorrect regarding what is really happening.

Superior General of FSSP says to National Catholic Register it is a false rumor. They are not being called to Rome.

The story notes how rumours of a follow-up to TC are behind this meeting. Does Francis want his legacy to be one of a sort of futile bitterness? Francis likely knows that if there was ever a sort of liturgical 'free market' of TLM and NOM, the latter would atrophy at a rather hitherto unseen. So far the TLM is mostly Western. If it gained further traction elsewhere, the comparative strength of the NOM vis a vis the TLM would begin to drain away. +Danneels would spin in his grave if Catholicism began to revive, as it had tentatively started (the traditional priestly society had as many candidates as the National Seminary) under +Léonard, Abp Emeritus of Mechelen-Brussels, pushing back atheism and agnosticism. That would anger Francis who is most of all a Communist (he called Communists the real Catholics) who sees the Church as a vehicle for activism, and prefers unbelief to 'rigid' Catholicism. We will soon learn. I doubt Francis will be around for two long, so will want to land a heavier blow than TC managed. Francis wants deep not glancing wounds.
