I like reading, and this recent segment talks about the benefits of it when aloud in the family setting.

For the stone shall cry out of the wall; and the timber that is between the joints of the building, shall answer.  Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and prepareth a city by iniquity. - Habacuc 2,11-12

Great segment. I've had a lot of success reading to my rambunctious 3 year old after a rocky start. The library is a special place! Always look for beauty and a good story in those kids books.
"Begin again." -St. Teresa of Avila

"My present trial seems to me a somewhat painful one, and I have the humiliation of knowing how badly I bore it at first. I now want to accept and to carry this little cross joyfully, to carry it silently, with a smile in my heart and on my lips, in union with the Cross of Christ. My God, blessed be Thou; accept from me each day the embarrassment, inconvenience, and pain this misery causes me. May it become a prayer and an act of reparation." -Elisabeth Leseur

We are definitely a read aloud family.  One of my favorite things to do with the kids.  We have shared SO many books together so far.  Aside from prayer, it's like the tie that binds 😉.

I encourage all parents to start young, and stay persistent with this habit.

My parents read aloud to me when I was a kid. It's one of my favorite memories, and it definitely encouraged a love of reading. I still love listening to audiobooks to this day. :)

Mine did, too.  As did my grandparents.  Fantastic memories.

So I am in the midst of reading her book and it is pretty good.  However, she added an anecdote about two men who adopted a boy from Russia and how they had to read aloud to him every night to help him learn English.  It has left a pall on the rest of the book.
