Ronnie Hawkins lived just north of Peterborough on Stoney Lake.  I knew his worker that lived there.  When I was up there one time I was asked what my favorite band was.  I said The Band, not realizing at the time that The Band used to be The Hawks that played with Ronnie Hawkins.  Ronnie got a good chuckle at that.  True story.

Did you know that all the members of The Band are Canadians except for Levon Helm.  Levon is originally from Arkansas like Ronnie.  I never met any of the members of The Band at Ronnie's, but I did meet Levon Helm's brother and his band there.
