LOTR Rings of Power-Looks Garbage
« on: August 23, 2022, 08:55:39 PM »
Official Trailer

Latest trailer. Comments are hilarious, and give me some hope for humanity. But honestly, this is going to be the worst show in years. It had the most potential, and the highest budget. But clearly the only thing they care about is pushing diversity. I mean, do they honestly think that they will make money on it? Is it possible that Amazon is that freaking stupid? The trailers have been absolutely torched online; Critical Drinker did a good video (a few actually) on it. He does swear but is absolutely hilarious and spot on. I mean, his video has more likes then the official trailer.  ;D

All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost.

"Am I not here, I who am your mother?" Mary to Juan Diego

"Let a man walk ten miles steadily on a hot summer's day along a dusty English road, and he will soon discover why beer was invented." G.K. Chesterton

"Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill." Jesus Christ

This cultural diversity is a way to tell lies. Evil indeed.

If the movies, as good as they for escapism, got it wrong, there was never any chance for this.

They got a lot right, all things considered.

CHRISTOPHER STEVENS reviews The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power:
No turkey, however bloated and stupid, could ever be big enough to convey the mesmerising awfulness of Amazon's billion dollar Tolkien epic
 - The budget for the project was a massive 'future-gambling' $1billion
 - It cost Amazon $250 million alone just to secure the rights  to the prequel
 - Aside from Sir Lenny Henry, the only well-known star cast is Peter Mullan
 - Stevens says the script is cliche-laden, the acting is dire and the pace is leaden

Rating: 1-star (out of 5)

Turkey is not the word. No turkey, however bloated and stupid, could ever be big enough to convey the mesmerising awfulness of Amazon's billion dollar Tolkien epic.

This is a disaster dragon plucked, spatchcocked, with a tankerload of Paxo stuffed up its fundament, roasted and served with soggy sprouts.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power (Amazon Prime) is so staggeringly bad, it's hilarious. Everything about it is ill-judged to a spectacular extreme.

The cliche-laden script, the dire acting, the leaden pace, the sheer inconsistency and confusion as it lurches between styles where do we start?

Yeah they made him too soft and weak, indecisive. In the books he was the ultra sigma male, always sure of himself.

The treatment of Faramir was even more atrocious. Not to mention the Nazgul flying off after looking at the ring.

The garbage is a feature, not a bug. This revisionism is a purposeful culture war attack, brought to you by Bezos & Co., on Tolkien's entire ethos and worldview:

I thought the original movies were long and poorly done.  I actually fell asleep in the movie theater.  Definitely skipping this series.

Amazon didn't buy some parts of the Tolkein Ring series, perhaps to allow more creative freedom I thought, but while the movies had some flaws this Amazon effort looks like woke garbage. I rarely watch films now. The last cinema film was Dunkirk, a great film with no token ethnics, tho if those men in reality saw the present they fought for, they might wonder.
Padre Pio: Pray, hope, and don't worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer.
