Hello Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I have completed an in depth review of St Ambrose's work "On the Duties of the Clergy" (Book 1 out of 3) in an effort that any of you would be enticed to read the work.

St Ambrose was born in 339 and passed away in 397, he was 58, St Ambrose was one of the early Church fathers known as "the Patriachs". St Ambrose was a theologian and statesman who served as the Bishop of Milan from 374 to 397. St Ambrose is the second Doctor of the Church and is given the title of "One of the Great Latin Fathers".

The work is known as "De Officiis Ministrorum" which translates as "On the Duties of Ministers". The work was written between 377 and 391 AD.

St Ambrose was heaviliy influenced by Marcus Tullius Cicero's work "De Officiis", "On Duties". Throughout the text there are many references to Cicero's work.

Attached is a PDF containing my full in depth review of the work.

I hope that my review of this work will entice you all to pick up a copy of the work, and expand your knowledge of what was considered the duties of clergy at the time.

In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"
