WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! I FORGOT TO OPEN GO TO BED!!!! Bed heads unite....in a cheerful good night!

A decidely good night to all my bed heads.

Today veggie omellete and ground meat with broccoli. Day 2 back on low carb.  Should I roast Dymphna for not thanking me for my words of wisdom about sleep?  Just kidding.  Learned my lesson.  Pmd SD friends.  Read very frightening chapter on purgatory.  2 long walks.  Long talk with the Mrs.

Pleasant dreams big mama, Ches, Dymph, Mata, Jayne, Matto, Martin, KK, etc

I know."go to bed", "go to bed", you hear this every single night. But, what if I don't say this and you forget to go to bed? What if? Chris may forget to bring us some goodies, probably pork rinds tonight because of his low carb diet. Hey Cris....put some grated cheese on them, microwave, season with a little creole and chives...not bad at all. Back to forgetting to go to bed. We would have a few very tired and crabby SD-ers. So guess what?

WE'RE OPEN! Drop in and say you're nite nites.  Come on. Give mama a little hug g-nite.Tell me about your day. The good, bad and ugly. Don't be shy. What is said in go to bed, stays in go to bed!
To board the struggle bus: no whining, board with a smile, a fake one will be found out and put off at next stop, no maps, no directions, going only one way, one destination. Follow all rules and you will arrive. Drop off at pearly gate. Bring nothing.

Bringing out a tray of Budweisers and my famous pork rind nachos.

A big hug to big mama for her motherly care of us all.     (my attempt at a hug).

The good:  good sleep last night, engaging discussion on indulgences, devoted attention of dog Peanut, savory dinner of ground beef and cabbage, consoling rwading about purgatory, gentle evening breeze, rosary with wife (hopefully gaining plenary indulgence).

The bad:  pain, anxiety, while driving 30 mins in traffic with no A.C.

The ugly:  sin

Hey Chris!  You just described my ringtone on my phone.  The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly!  You know the first part where they whistle?  That's it.

I haven't had pork rinds in many years.  I had an Uncle that was addicted to them.  Thanks for the food and the memories.   :) :cheeseheadbeer:   8)

Chris, your fool proof plan is a sound and good one for most.  :cheeseheadbeer:  However, as someone who routinely stays awake for 2-3 days in a row, and up to 7 days a couple of times, your plan, while wonderful for normal people who have insomnia once in a while, doesn't cover my situation.  Do you have any words of wisdom for someone like me?  I can't take ambien because it makes me hallucinate.  I have found a mixture of meds that is working for now, but after 2 years, medications usually stop working for me like they did before.      :)

Chris' Full Proof Plan for DYMPHNA to Achieve Normal, Healthy Sleep:

1.  Exercise vigorously for at least one hour during the day, ideally outside and in the morning.

2.  Eat a reduced carb, low glycemic index diet to better stabilize blood sugars, especially at night.

3. Practice deep breathing relaxation twice a day.

4. Spend at least an hour a day in leisure with family or friends.

5. Always go to bed at the same time, and early.  No later than 10pm.

6. Progressively decrease activities and serious concerns over several hours in the evening, also progressively turning off lights and other electronic devices.

7. Turn off almost all lights one hour before bedtime.

8. Take a small dose of Melatonin (1-3 mg) EARLY in the evening to help mind slowly shift to sleep mode.

9. Before bed, take a heavier dose of TIME-RELEASED Melatonin which will KEEP you asleep.  5-10 mg.

10.  Also take Valerian root and Calcium Magnesium with warm milk or Camamilla tea.  Plus a small, low carb, high fat, high protein snack (like avocado and turkey).

11.  Write down a daily list of concerns for the next day, to clear your mind.

12. Take a hot shower, or bath with Epsom salt and lavender oil.

13.  Strictly observe the bedroom for just sleeping.  Avoid being in the room except when about to go in bed.  Keep the room as quiet as possible.  Eliminate all sounds.

14.  Keep the room very clean and organized, and cool at night.  Use cotton sheets and a comfie comforter.  Invest in the best quality mattress and pillows.

15. Keep the room as dark as possible.

16.  Lie down and try and sleep.  After 10 minutes count sheep or something else in your mind.  Don't go more than 20 minutes awake in bed.  Leave the room and do something routine and boring for 15 minutes and then go back to bed.  Repeat cycle as needed until you fall asleep.  Same if you wake back up.

17.  Always get up at the same time every morning.

18. Buy a book about sleep hygeine.

19. Consult a sleep specialist for guidance.

20. Keep following this plan for as many weeks and months as it takes to establish healthy sleep.

Mr. Chris, you are an angel.  To track all this down and then type it up for me?!!  I can't thank you enough.  I wish there was a way for me to repay you.  If you think of something, please let me know.  Some on the list I have tried, while others I haven't.  And I haven't tried putting them together.  So I will begin working on this list with you for a very long time (we hope   ;)  )

Open NOW! Hopefully Dymphna is having a good time at her reunion. Right, dymph? Hope Chris is having a good day. This is my monthly withdrawal day, sends me to bed all day. Tomorrow will be better. Tonight is a mild night. Not hot or cold. Haven't looked up tomorrow's weather. Surprise me.

monthly withdrawal...like from a bank account?

my son and my wife came by to visit they went home.  going to try to sleep again.  my stomach has been trying to make sure I never sleep though.  they want me to go home on formula but I kind of just want to give up on it.  Not getting many calories
