To me cornbread is not cake.

True. But it's as close as I can get, at the moment.  :-\

Oh I see, you were offering what you have, then we'll take it, of course. It will taste even better with your good will! Besides, it may not be cake, but everyone likes corn bread. Thanks Bird.

With hats and cakes and wine? maybe?  Thank you Carleen and dymph.  But this party pooper is ready to hit the sack!  ;D

We are well into our party, but it seems we are partying alone in our own places, thats OK. Dymphna, well she wasn't all that fired up about her plane. But I do think she will be more excited when she flies or rides in it. And me, I was celebrating nothing. Right Non? Nothing might mean nothing. So what am I doing trying to make something out of nothing. Really gotta think this over. Munda, what say you?

Orate, in the go to bed thread we are always on the verge of bed. The parties end before the begin! G-nite Orate! Sleep well.

Well, Ches, looks more like they've gone their own way, except Orate of course, but she's a party pooper.

Of course we have to have Strawberry Angel Food Cake!  I'll need to make 4 to cover everybody.  You all will love this!  Hubby's Great Uncle always made these angel food cakes by hand.  They were awesome, and nobody in the family were ever able to reproduce them.  But I've got a secret...  Off to make cake!

Not enough waffles in this world to make me like syrup though.  A couple of friends I grew up with (they are twins) used to love it when their Mom wasn't up to snuff and told then they could have anything.  So, of course they ran for the pantry and got out the syrup and peanut butter.

This, my friends, is what happens when you are taking medications for sleep.  You fall asleep at your keyboard, and wake up thinking, "Dog gonnit, a fairly nice post  and here it is, not finished and thankfully not posted.  Now it's finished.  *sigh
?
I adore Thee O Christ, and I bless Thee, because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world!

Oh yeah, approaching bed time. Time to open up. Really could use a coffee table in here.

You can probably use my aunt's carved teak one. She's grown tired of it, it seems, and probably never really liked it to begin with. I love it, though, which is good since it'll probably be passed down to me eventually (if she doesn't get rid of it first). ;)

Though if I were in the market to buy one, I'd go with one of these round, rustic looking ones:

Preferably with legs, and with the center crack filled with something clear. ;)

Oh thank you bird. If we could just borrow it for a while. Shell never know. Really she wont. Well use coasters. And polish it every few days. Oh it will be so good to have a coffee table.

It has a glass top. Do you have to use coasters with glass, or is it just a good habit to keep up?

Oh, no coasters needed. Thought it was just the wood.

The top is intricately carved, with glass set over it in a sort of outer border, to protect the carving and provide a usable surface. Actually, the only part not carved is the border. And it has a set of 6 little teak stools, also carved along the sides and feet, so that people can sit around the table. We kids used to love that table when we were little, because the stools were the perfect height for us!  ;D It was the "kids' table" at Thanksgiving, of course. I still sit on the stools occasionally, when we have company, but now I'm (obviously) so tall that kneeling or sitting on the floor is more comfortable when using the table itself. Every so often, my aunt pries up the glass top with a dinner knife (while we both hold our breath), to oil the wood underneath. I wouldn't want to be the one to do that, I can tell you!
My Lord and my God.

We can put a tablecloth on it, if that makes you feel better. :)
