Yes, come in. Make a drink. Bird, some kind soul dropped a 12 pack of Canada Dry. Help yourself.

So I made a gin, tonic, cherry, mandarin orange drink. Real cherries that taste wonderful by the time my icy cold drink is finished. Dark red cherries, we  buy by the case, and eat right out of the jar. They are packed in cherry juice. Love the cherry juice with vodka and tonic water. Bout 1/2 cherry juice, 1/2 tonic water. 2 shots vodka. Yum. Then of course, the cherries at bottom of glass. Yum plus.

got here to the nursing facility

they have mass here  novus ordo...but that's to be expected.  there was an organized group from the local Catholic young adult group "for young professionals in their 20's and 30's" it's their community service

my wife has gone a few times.  saw some familiar faces i remember from when i went to that "young adult group" back when i was able to go places.  I guess this is their "act of charity" or something they do often--hanging out with nursing home residents and escortingsome of the elderly folks down to Mass.  saw a group comingdown the hall asking if i wantedto go to Mass i havent been in idont know howlong.  the nurse saidshe wwasnt able to bring anyone downtoday which was a little disappointingbut iguess theywould have to senda  nurse downstairs with me and there werent any other takers from our unit so they werentgoing to be short one nurse.  So I didn't go to mass.

was a bit weird to see people in this context  was kind of hoping no one would recognize me even though i recognized them....the unit here is a "young adult unit" for people who are significantly youngerthan the usual nursing home population which is interesting.  although i do like crossword puzzles, classical music, playing bridge andother things old peopple like

Ches, if I were there, I'd see that they find someone to bring you to Mass.  By golly, I would. A  man who wants to be at mass, should be made priority. Really the spiritual component of wellness is significant as you well know. So, they should have accommodated my friend Ches. Just not right. Not right at all.  >:(

GO TO BED as soon as we finish our snacks and drinks. For our snack tonight I have creamed pork chop chili with tortilla chips and grated Monterey and cheddar cheeses. This is not for the feint of heart. It is very flavorful and a bit hot. But the hot is appropriate to the spices. Not just hot to be hot. But do have a drink if you are not a "hot" eater. Do be brave. Do try it.

While not a "hot" eater, I'll choose the drink option please.  Do you have any of the cherry thing you and Bernadette were having last night?

Ok, you will have one dark cherry, tonic water, cherry juice, 2 shots vodka,  with at least 15 cherries floating in it with the ice cubes.

Oh yes. The cherries soaked in vodka are very tasty indeed. Bernadette only wanted the cherries and cherry juice. She has no idea what she's missing!

"Specially Selected" distributed by Aldi foods. 2.00 a jar. Dark morello cherries. 24 oz. jar. Hubby but 3 cases of them. 15 jars in a case. Delicious and very economical. Packed in cherry juice. Here, try a drink of my drink. See if you like, munda.

Goodnight Carleen!  Sssshhhhh  Is she gone yet?  Look out the window!  I can't hear her...  OK, it's officially party set up time.  Munda, help me hang these streamers please.  Bernadette!  Did you hear snoring when you walked by her room, or praying?  Praying, of course.  So we've got to be really quiet if we are going to surprise her.  Ches!  How are you?  Did you find someone to play the piano to accompany her Hubby on the harmonica?  Oh!  And balloons?  Jayne, did you find someone to help you get them all blown up?  Non Nobis, great job you and Jayne got them all blown up!  Fleur, did you find all the stuff you needed for the snacks?  Oh, that's where Stella's help came in.  Good job, Lady's and gentlemen!

Bernadette, please go and see if you can hear her snoring.  We'll be safe then.  She is snoring?  Oh, it's was the poochie I was hearing moving around.  Martin, were you able to get ahold of everyone on the list?  Did they RSVP at the same time?  That's great!  Keep working on the others.

Everyone!  The place looks beautiful.  I can't wait for her to see it.  What?  What are we celebrating?  We are celebrating, thus thanking God for Carleen!
