I keep hearing the California Victory Cannon from my apartment. Go Bears!

QuoteThe California Victory Cannon was presented to the Rally Committee in time for the 1963 Big Game by the class of 1964. It is shot off at the beginning of each game, after each score, and after each Cal victory. Only once, against UOP on September 7, 1991, did the Bears score too many times for the cannon, racking up 12 touchdowns (no field goals) on the lowly Tigers.

I'm now an assistant soccer coach. I mostly work with goalkeepers. Good workout.

Wine tasting all day.
Fabulous! Where?!?!?

J. Lohr and Testarossa, in San Jose and Los Gatos respectively.

Edited for spelling so my Italian ancestors don't roll over in their graves.

Bonus fun fact: Testarossa used to be the Jesuit novitiate and the Jesuits made wine, too. My dad always used to tell us stories about grape-picking during the summers he spent there.

On Wednesday, I got to drive my Mini Cooper for the first time in months.  I admit that I drive over the speed limit, but never through residential areas.  Next time out I'll go down some of the twisty country roads I know around here.  It should be cool enough to drive with the sunroof open, too. :D

Took the family to a National Park yesterday.  Saw some breathtaking views and had a great time.
"All the good works in the world are not equal to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass because they are the works of men; but the Mass is the work of God. Martyrdom is nothing in comparison for it is but the sacrifice of man to God; but the Mass is the sacrifice of God for man." - St. John Vianney

Watching a crazy thunderstorm right now.  Lightning hit a tall building just a couple hundred feet away from my balcony...boy was that loud.  Almost felt like I got punched in the chest.  I love storms!
Son, when thou comest to the service of God, stand in justice and in fear, and prepare thy soul for temptation.

The world is charged with the grandeur of God.
    It will flame out, like shining from shook foil;
    It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil
Crushed. Why do men then now not reck his rod?
Generations have trod, have trod, have trod;
    And all is seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil;
    And wears man's smudge and shares man's smell: the soil
Is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod.

And for all this, nature is never spent;
    There lives the dearest freshness deep down things;
And though the last lights off the black West went
    Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs —
Because the Holy Ghost over the bent
    World broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings.
