"My brothers, all of you, if you are condemned to see the triumph of evil, never applaud it. Never say to evil: you are good; to decadence: you are progess; to death: you are life. Sanctify yourselves in the times wherein God has placed you; bewail the evils and the disorders which God tolerates; oppose them with the energy of your works and your efforts, your life uncontaminated by error, free from being led astray, in such a way that having lived here below, united with the Spirit of the Lord, you will be admitted to be made but one with Him forever and ever: But he who is joined to the Lord is one in spirit." Have you watched The Seven Samurai as well?  I'm wondering if it's worth all the high ratings and critical acclaim it's been given.  Many say the American remake pales in comparison.

It's indeed a fantastic flick.
"All the good works in the world are not equal to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass because they are the works of men; but the Mass is the work of God. Martyrdom is nothing in comparison for it is but the sacrifice of man to God; but the Mass is the sacrifice of God for man." - St. John Vianney

The world is charged with the grandeur of God.
    It will flame out, like shining from shook foil;
    It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil
Crushed. Why do men then now not reck his rod?
Generations have trod, have trod, have trod;
    And all is seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil;
    And wears man's smudge and shares man's smell: the soil
Is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod.

And for all this, nature is never spent;
    There lives the dearest freshness deep down things;
And though the last lights off the black West went
    Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs —
Because the Holy Ghost over the bent
    World broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings.

On my list, but haven't seen it yet.  Does it live up to the hype that the media/critics give it, and how does it compare to the American remake?

No, but I am going to have to watch it after what you just said.

Godzilla. It moved about as fast as a slow moving Godzilla. I have never felt so strongly about a movie.

[spoiler]Empathy that we could never have for the characters is attempted very early on. One character becomes interesting, then he dies. We're left with the remainder of the movie with one dimensional characters. The only thing that would help it is if it had action at this point. But it doesn't. One more thing could help: someone could say something interesting. Doesn't happen. There's a little bit of slow moving moster fighting around the end. The ony good part was a monster killing scene that lasted about one minute.

One would never guess a movie with so many atomic blasts could be so boring.

Maleficent -- it was decent, though I didn't like a few of the changes they made.  Poor Prince Phillip becomes basically a prop, whereas in the original he is the most active of all the Disney princes.
