I remember St. Mark's. St. Pius X would have walked in that very church.

Stunning! Too bad they all have tables blocking the view of the altar.
Tables which were never mandated by Vatican II, I'd like to add. I'm not aware of anything in any Council document which mandates the use of a free-standing altar.

And yet many (most?) bishops used VII as the excuse to wreckovate the parishes in their dioceses whenever possible.
In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"

I've had the pleasure of having gone there twice.

Amazing Basilica.
DISPOSE OUR DAYS IN THY PEACE, AND COMMAND US TO BE DELIVERED FROM ETERNAL DAMNATION, AND TO BE NUMBERED IN THE FLOCK OF THINE ELECT.
