After 13 days, I just caved: I am having a bowl of (organic protein) Ramens with generous amounts of cheese and butter. During the time I ate nearly no carbs and much fat, I was feeling like I was 14 again. Really. I lost close to 10 pounds. I will get back on this again.

;D

It is only a three minute video addressing your recent experience.

I am not going to watch it, thanks anyway. This experiment has made me a believer in keto. Not to mention all the other scientific and anecdotal evidence to the contrary of this title.

Fat gout foot carnivorous rulers and lamed solitaries wasted from consumption/fasting cannot balance the two.  What makes you think that you can?

This video is a lot of nonsense.  Practically every claim in it is false.  It is completely unnecessary to consume carbohydrates.  The body needs only a small amount of glucose which is capable of producing from fat and protein using a process called gluconeogenesis.

It is somewhat true that many people lose their appetite when sick and stop eating which puts them into ketosis. This is a way for the body to heal itself since the body thrives on ketones.  It is patently absurd too conclude from this fact that being in ketosis is the equivalent of being sick and therefore that ketogenic diets make people sick.

There are various ways to trigger ketosis in order to obtain its benefits.  Fasting (which is not the same as starvation) and very low carb diets are two of the main ones.

It is not unusual for people who stop eating carbs to crave them.  This is not a sign that they are necessary.  Rather, it is akin to people who have given up smoking or alcohol falling back into their bad habit.  Many people experience sugar and/or carbs as an addictive substance, which is not surprising since they have a comparable dopamine response.  Just like overcoming an addiction, one needs to keep trying and not get discouraged by failures.

There is a fair amount of individual variation in how much carbohydrates people can tolerate.  You may want to experiment with adding some back in after you have achieved your weight/health goals.  If so, the best time to eat them is immediately after strength training when your insulin sensitivity will be at its highest.

You are either full of you know what, or you need an exorcism.

To fill you in, he basically says the weight you lose at the beginning is mainly water, ketosis is a starvation state, and certain cells in the kidney and brain require glucose to function.

I'm going grey now at 48, the lockdown gave me the opening to start the process.  But I'm 30lbs overweight and I'm too dam vain to go grey and fat, its got to be one or the other  ;D

I exercise, biking, walking or indoor trampoline however I eat late at night.  I need a strict diet but break out at weekends are essential, I like a bit of joy in my life.  I can't go without potatoes, my ancestors would turn in their graves and they're soooooooo tasty.  I love pasta and pesto on a Friday and  a wholewheat wrap quesadilla for my no meat days, I hate fish so I wouldn't know what to eat on Fridays!.
So intermittent fasting sounds good but I get headaches on extreme diet days, if I get too hungry I get foggy brain, low blood pressure doesn't help. What do you eat on fasting days? I would probably stick to the original 800 calories per day.  Oh and hormones do play a major factor as a woman of near 50!!

I like wearing nice flowy dresses pinched in the middle with a belt but you can't do that with an over flowing midriff  ;D ;D

Hmmmm . . . how about fewer calories, no night eating, and more walking? Moderate natural sugar. I will eat blueberries and dark chocolate, btw. My glucose levels will not go to 0.

There has been no indication that anybody posting here about diet and excercise wants to live until 90.  This is a straw man that you make up, apparently to justify your decision to use no self-restraint in regard to eating.  As has been previously pointed out, your lifestyle will not necessarily make you die younger. You very well may live to 90 but with decades of suffering ill health and being a burden on your family.

People generally feel better when they are a healthy weight.  They typically have more energy and are less likely to develop chronic and degenerative diseases.  I personally have an autoimmune condition which is best managed by a combination of diet, exercise, and proper sleep habits. I would like to be healthy enough to run my home and help my children and grandchildren. I do not especially wish to live to 90, although I am content to leave it up to God.

If you want to eat whatever you wish with no regard to how it impacts your health, go ahead.  But stop pretending that it makes you some sort of superior Catholic who recognizes the fallen state of the world better than anybody else does.   What it probably makes you is a glutton.
