Until a canonical trial happens, this is all just a big show to assuage the angry mobs. And does anyone actually think there will be a trial before McCarrick dies and heads off to face the only trial that matters?

Truth is, McCarrick should be stripped even of his priesthood. He should die in jail. At the least. But we musn't let this show of "force" against an abuser no longer useful to the system distract us from the network that enabled him, covered for him, and perpetuates abuse.

In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"

This is just a slap on the wrist from the Vatican. Francis isn't serious about purging the sodomites from the Church. He is surrounding himself with these degenerates. The statute of limitations in the US should be lifted for child rape and this guy should be in jail, along with all the others who have committed these crimes.

Agreed. That's why the laity needs to keep the heat on with the other cardinals who have similar inclinations.

St. Matthew's Cathedral in DC used to be my parish years ago; our wedding took place there.
McCarrick's faggotry became more and more militant as his fellow traveler Fr. Winthrop Brainerd *
was stationed there.  He was a very scary misogynist who collected a stable of gay altar servers.  These young men would kiss, etc. right in public after Mass.  There had been a good old monsignor who offered beautiful First Saturday devotions.

*Washington Times article mentions controversy McCarrick defending Brainerd, just so I'm not guilty of detraction.

I was told that the gays had been run out of Old St. Mary's (the 1983 JP2 Latin Indult and parish of Nellie Gray founder of March for Life (R.I.P.)  so they relocated at St. Matthew's.

Very bad stuff will likely come out; these are the types I think of as warlocks.

It would take 100 years to get all of them to resign. Who are the only heterosexual Cardinals and Archbishops in the American Church? Chaput? Fat useless Dolan?

They scare and bully souls into submission, for starters.

I hope there's a few more than that!

Someone please explain to me, if the faggotry and pedophilia was so frequent/habitual (and even to the point of frequent public display), how such men are not regularly participating in sacrilege (i.e., saying daily Mass).  This is something I've wondered about for a long time -- not an occasional sin against the Sixth Commandment (like the rest of humanity) but a steady, routine habit of One of the Four Sins.  It's just really scary to me because it would mean that to avoid committing sacrilege, such habitual behavior would have to be confessed possibly weekly and even more often.  And if it's that frequent, the confessors in question would have to wonder about Firm Purpose of Amendment.  (Or they're lousy confessors.)  As an example, some trad priests I know have so much as suggested that they could be disinclined to offer absolution to habitual users of pornography who claim that they "can't stop" (and therefore make no serious, regular attempts to stop).  How much more serious what we are talking about here.

If such a priest/bishop/cardinal dies suddenly, without Last Rites, the consequences to that cleric's soul are frightening to imagine.

Am I odd to wonder about this?  (I never encounter it being brought up, anywhere.)

The heat is turning up because all of these men are Bergoglio cheerleaders.

I think that we should all reflect that in the mainstream Church, amongst clergy and even bishops, discussions of "what did our Lady mean at La Salette when she said 'Rome will lose the faith'" are taking place. Discussions essentially embracing sedevadantism, albeit without the "muh orders are the only valid ones," are seriously taking place at high levels.

I disagree. This is not a slap on the wrist; ++McCarrick resigned of his own accord. Francis did not remove him from the College of Cardinals (which would have been a slap on the wrist), and "barring him from public ministry" is a joke - he looks like he couldn't physically publicly minister even if he wanted to.

Hopefully more eyes are being opened amongst Francis's fanboys to the filthy fraud Francis is.

Kaesekopf

Useless gesture until he's sitting in prison and whatever process to defrock him is done.

And then his confreres, enablers, and boyfriends are removed from the American hierarchy.

The few good guys are likely underground at this point.

Whatever happened to Bishop Fabian Wendelin Bruskewitz?

Didn't one of them (both start with B) have a tranny nun or priest on board about 15 years ago?
