Japanese Indigo fabric: $12/yd. Indigo kimono, here I come:swoon: I'm going to do this the smart way, too: make a pattern out of an existing kimono (bought on eBay for $10), after I use the existing kimono to become proficient at arranging and tying the kimono. Then, if I want to, I can always put that kimono back together: they're traditionally made for easy disassembly, because they're often taken apart to be cleaned and reconditioned.  Boy, I will feel like the bee's knees in an indigo kimono: I can't think of anything that says "Dignity" more than this. :) Plus: a kimono acts as an excellent restraint upon...undignified behavior, shall we say? There's just way less chance of making a doofus of oneself in a kimono. ;)

The fabric's from here, if anyone's interested:

They have the best selection of traditional Japanese cotton fabrics that I've ever seen, in the U.S. Beautiful, beautiful stuff. And silks...and who knows what else.  :swoon:
