Not sure if I'm reinventing the thread wheel here, but I thought it would be nice for folks to post their favorite hymns. Not chants. Hymns.

Here is my #1, at least for the last few years:
Farrant's "Lord, For Thy Tender Mercy's Sake"

"If anyone does not wish to have Mary Immaculate for his Mother, he will not have Christ for his Brother." - St. Maximilian Kolbe

I love a lot of the ones from Richard Proulx's Cathedral Singers series. I'll see if I can find some to post.

For a Child is born to us, and a son is given to us, and the government is upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace

"The World Must Conform to Our Lord and not He to it." Rev. Dennis Fahey CSSP

"My brothers, all of you, if you are condemned to see the triumph of evil, never applaud it. Never say to evil: you are good; to decadence: you are progess; to death: you are life. Sanctify yourselves in the times wherein God has placed you; bewail the evils and the disorders which God tolerates; oppose them with the energy of your works and your efforts, your life uncontaminated by error, free from being led astray, in such a way that having lived here below, united with the Spirit of the Lord, you will be admitted to be made but one with Him forever and ever: But he who is joined to the Lord is one in spirit." Cardinal Pie of Potiers

Bl. Karl Hapsburg

If people don't believe in God, they won't believe in nothing; they'll believe in anything - Chesterton

"I am not much of a Crusader, that is for sure, but at least I am not a Mohamedist!"

Carleendiane

The Byzantine polyphonic chanted St. Michael prayer our choir does after every Mass. It so dramatic, no organ, and inspiring!
To board the struggle bus: no whining, board with a smile, a fake one will be found out and put off at next stop, no maps, no directions, going only one way, one destination. Follow all rules and you will arrive. Drop off at pearly gate. Bring nothing.

Needless to say our choir doesn't sound quite as good.

I'm not sure if it's my favorite, but I do like "All Glory, Laud and Honor."  I typically only get to hear it once a year, on Palm Sunday.

Oops. This is a type of chant.
