Ok, this is maybe not such a big deal, but..... I successfully "ported" my cell phone number to a Tracfone today.  Took me about 10 minutes.  Not bad for the old lady that I am.

In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"

Porting across companies is actually a pretty good feat.  They sometimes make that really difficult and Tracfone doesn't have a great support service if something goes wrong.  Just changing from a GSM Tracfone to a CDMA (operates off Verizon networks instead of AT&T) took me at least an hour of talking to a rep and punching numbers into the phone.  The automated process couldn't handle it.

Yes, I am the last person in the world that uses a Tracfone as a primary.  I just don't see the benefit of paying $1,000+ for a smartphone when I get talk/text and even internet for $250 per year.  The simple Tracfones also never break down and the batteries last for years.  I do a lot of phone conversations too.

I'll be using my tracfone as my primary.  I've had a back up tracfone for a long time and yeah, they are great.  I was kinda leary about the whole porting process.  New phone is up and running fine, though.

Someone should start a Tracfone fan club so we can crash the Apple forum.  Just get the Tracfone in their hands once and they'll convert.
