When you look at a Crucifix, likely it makes you call to mind your sinful nature and see what you caused;  it evokes a sense of repentance and a resolve to improve.  Very profitable for your spiritual life.

There is another way to look at it.  Imagine the voice of Our Lord telling you:

What more could I have done to show you --

I Love You.
