I am not very smart. I don't do well with the abstract, at least from the examples given on this forum.

I am more of a practical sort. I made a good nurse because I understood the science well and saw how it worked. So out of the examples given, which one would be the "Summa for Dummies"?

There is no way I can read Aristotle and Plato and all of that. I do have children to home school, and quilts to make!

I didn't suggest you read Aristotle and Plato.   ;)

No, KK/ StLouis did. I can't read 4 paragraph long sentences- it hurts my brain. This is why me and JPII could never have a conversation!

These links look really good. I will try and read them later tonight. It looks like I passed the putrid throat to my 18 mo. :( :(

So sorry.  Prayers for you two at Mass this evening, sister.

Quote from: ludimagister on July 20, 2016, 01:09:26 PMYou might find Fr Walter Farrell's A Companion to the Summa helpful. It's fairly easy to read, I think, and available on-line:

By the way, I hope someone can come up with more answers to your original post. It's a great question.

I was looking for something else but found this topic.

The link above is no longer active but it was archived at http://www.domcentral.org/library/index.html

Father Farrell's book specifically, http://www.domcentral.org/farrell/companion/index.html
In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"
