As I have mentioned, I have started studying German. I am currently looking for resources to help create an immersion experience.
Lots of people recommend that learners watch TV and movies in their target language and I've tried that. However, I find much of these media distasteful (in any language). It seems to me that German entertainment, at least that I've found in language site lists of recommended shows , tends to be especially dark, gritty, and violent. And, like American media, the comedy tends toward raunchy.
Anyhow it occurred to me that it would be better to get language practice and exposure in a traditional Catholic context. There are almost certainly German language homilies, catechesis, and spiritual classics out there. Perhaps there are wholesome/ Catholic entertainment shows too.
Can people recommend resources like this? I want things for watching, listening and reading. I am, now, especially interested in easy, beginner level materials, probably intended for children. Presumably I will be able to understand more difficult material as I progress, so I would like recommendations for that as well.
Thank you for your help.
