King Alfred's Emissary to India

In 833 AD according to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles, King Alfred sent two emissaries to southern India. They were bearing alms for the shrines of St Thomas and St Bartholomew in keeping with a vow he made after defeating a Viking raiding party.
