Which Missal Do You Use?

I use an Angelus Press one. It was a gift when I first tradverted.

My first and only hand Missal I've ever bought was the Baronius Press back in 2006 or so. I've heard good things about the Angelus Press one, but I'd like to see it first. Does it have the square notation for the Gregorian Mass settings? I consider those essential, if woefully underused by most trads, because congregational chanting should be encouraged.

Bonaventure

Yes, it does.

Most trads I know use and know how to read Gregorian notation. Perhaps your experiences are a Texas thing.

Anymore, I mostly forgo the use of a missal at Mass - having read through it every Sunday for over six years, I'm familiar enough with the Ordinary to know what to do when, what's going on, and I read the Propers at home beforehand (for which I have several options - a 2005 Baronius, a reprint of the My Sunday Missal, and a couple of all-Latin travel-sized missals.)  Watching live Mass closely is a real revelation after so much of the check-the-text/look-back-up routine.

My fiance gave me a Baronius for Christmas in 2010, so that's what I have. My parish also has the Angelus Press red missalettes, which most people at my TLM use.

I've had a Baronius ever since it came out in 2006 (I think?).  I recently put down the money on an Angelus Press, and it's quite nice.  The commentary in the Ordinary is superior.  Also, it's a more compact edition, which is handy.  Although the spine is bound incredibly tight, so it doesn't want to stay open very well.

I'd have to say that I prefer the Angelus on the whole.

Checking my Baronius, year of publication is noted within as 2004.

I use the Angelus Press '62 missal.

Ps 135

For he was mindful of us in our affliction: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
And he redeemed us from our enemies: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
Who giveth food to all flesh: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
Give glory to the God of heaven: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
Give glory to the Lord of lords: * for his mercy endureth for ever.

Fr. Lasance's Blessed Sacrament Missal. A friend gave it to me years ago and it's really the one missal for every occasion (in my opinion). ;)

Lasance, when I use one. Went full-on missalslacker and rarely bring it anymore.

My first missal was a glorious acquisition - the Angelus Press 1962 Roman Catholic missal.  I purchased it on eBay in like-new condition from a seller in one of the Carolinas.  I think his name was Whalen (he wrote it on the inside cover).  I got it for $40 and was so pleased with it.  It accompanied my travels in Europe whilst abroad in 2008-2009, and then I acquired a 1960 Schott Messbuch from eBay.de (like 5 euro).

I ended up losing my missal in the campus chapel in Indiana and never found it.  I went through the My Sunday Missal by Fr. Stedman (1940s versions) and then picked up the St. Andrew's Missal (4 volume) off eBay.

Things finally came to a head when I missed the Angelus missal so much that last November I finally got one.  AP had a discount of like, 20% off or something on their missal.  I couldn't say no!

I've used that faithfully since then.  And now I have about 4-5 missals leftover.  :)

The maroon Angelus Press missalettes?  I would think a diocesan chapel would use the red Ecclesia Dei missalettes.

Yep, the maroon AP missalettes. I thought it was odd at first, too.

Indeed.  That's the first non-SSPX chapel I've heard of having them.

I think they are better, though, than the ED ones.
