most of my tattoos are religious

If they inspire you to pray, then you really do "stick" to your prayers  :D
(can't "unstick" a tattoo!)
[Matthew 8:26]  And Jesus saith to them: Why are you fearful, O ye of little faith? Then rising up he commanded the winds, and the sea, and there came a great calm.

[Job  38:1-5]  Then the Lord answered Job out of a whirlwind, and said: [2] Who is this that wrappeth up sentences in unskillful words? [3] Gird up thy loins like a man: I will ask thee, and answer thou me. [4] Where wast thou when I laid up the foundations of the earth? tell me if thou hast understanding. [5] Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

Jesus, Mary, I love Thee! Save souls!

Lots of human activities no longer have social stigma, but that's not always a good thing. Regardless of prevailing customs, tattoos are symbolic of worldly attachment, just like rock music, clothing, makeup, multicolored hair and the like. I'm not saying everybody who uses these things are going to hell. But the more we can give these things up, the more use Christ has for us.

Some tatts are just plain dangerous for your soul. Not Porky Pig or Daffy Duck, but those related to pagan practices, Wicca, Eastern mysticism, Yoga, indigenous ancestry, spells, etc.

That's funny, mine reminds me daily to carry my cross and not run from it.  One of my personal issues.  I resent the broad brush approach to things you obviously have only a personal opinion on.  My tattoo was ok'd by a Priest so I'm pretty sure it's not the evil you portray it to be.  The one I'm getting to memorialize my Father later this month isn't bad either.

Just like everything else, there are evil tattoos.  Stay away from those and you should be just fine.  It doesn't mean you can't get them.  Don't get them if you don't like them, but don't assume you are better than those who do either.

hmmm... I'm with lauermar on this one.  I do realize that some people do use their tattoos religiously, and considering they're not objectively evil, I won't condemn the practice.  But if you look at the history of the Church, its always shied away from "bodily modification." I just don't think its a good idea to mark up one's body in any way.

Catholic teaching has always been that they are permissible so long as they are not of anything contrary to the Faith. my stance on them is if you don't want em don't get em, and if you do want em get good ones.

I began Reign of Jesus Through Mary last Friday and the attacks were fierce.

Is it something you can talk about?

What would you like to know?
