Just knitting, and not very well at that.  I keep meaning to take a proper class.  I want to make socks so badly, but right now all I can make are lumpy scarves.   ;D

Keep at it! I made scarves with large holes for a year. I was not a natural! Local yarn shops are a great resource. They are notorious for being snobs but they know their stuff.

Thank you both for the tips!  I will surely put them into practice sometime.

Those are adorable, stitchmom! I especially like the one with flowers.

I love all crafts  :D but given that they may be expensive to get really profficient in (and I'm not wealthy), I've limited my hobbies to quilting, knitting and embroidery. And our house only has so much room for all the tools... And thank goodness for ereaders, my bedroom is no longer over-flowing with books.
In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"
