I didn't forget about Original Sin.  That is why they can't view the Beatific Vision.  I can see it argued on both sides.  First, God doesn't owe the "Original Sin Only" soul anything, so He could leave it in hell proper (inferno). 

At the same time, the soul did not commit actual sin, so allowing it to suffer torments seems to offend Justice, since God created it knowing that it did not have a chance.

Considering it an act of Mercy is the best route.
